Youth Camping Trip

What: We plan to do some hiking, canoeing, and enjoy the great outdoors that God has given us.

Bob Seaton and Chet Mottershead are excited about taking Highland Youth to Morrow Mountain State Park. Morrow Mountain is in Albemarle, about 2 hours southwest of Raleigh. We plan to do some hiking, canoeing, and enjoy the great outdoors that God has given us.

SATURDAY DEPARTURE: 7:00 AM Saturday September 21 at Highland (eat breakfast beforehand). We plan to take the Highland Bus, so seating is limited.

SUNDAY ARRIVAL: Early Afternoon Sunday September 22, we will meet back in the Highland parking lot.

FOOD: Bring a sack lunch for Saturday, and money for Sunday lunch on the road. We will cook Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast. May want to pack a snack as well.

COST: Bring $15 cash for camping meals, $5 for canoe rental, money for Sunday lunch on the road.

GEAR TO BRING: sleeping bag/pillow, flashlight, rain coat, toiletry bag, camping chair, water bottle, close-toed shoes (for hiking), water shoes (for canoeing), change of clothes, sun/bug spray. Feel free to pack a Frisbee, or deck of cards too. Bring your Bible too, as we will have a service on Sunday morning.

TENTS: We hope you can bring your own tent. If you don’t have a tent, please let us know asap and we will work to accommodate you.

ACTIVITIES: There are canoe rentals for $5 per hour (PFD’s are provided). There will also be hiking, campfire, stargazing, and all kinds of fellowship and fun.

RSVP: Space is limited! Sign up deadline is Sunday, September 15.

Parents, the Youth are in good hands. Bob is a fun-loving camper, outdoor grill master, and Astronomy virtuoso.  Chet is Red Cross certified in Wilderness First Aid, and is an overly enthusiastic Scouter with Highland’s Troop 357.  We are so excited about this trip!
