Safe Sanctuary

Mandated by the United Methodist Church, Highland UMC officially adopted Safe Sanctuary Policies in November 2006 to protect our church children and youth and those who work with them while the children and youth participate in church-sponsored activities.

Guided by our Baptismal Covenant, we are reminded to surround these persons with a community of love and forgiveness, that they may grow in their trust of God. The congregation of Highland United Methodist Church is committed to providing a holy place of safety and security for all children, as defined in the Prevention of Abuse Against Children Policy. The children of Highland United Methodist Church shall be protected from abuse and violence of any kind, based on conduct of Church clergy, supervisors, staff, management or others (including volunteers) involved in the Church ministries while on HUMC premises and/or involved in HUMC ministries.

Our Safe Sanctuary policies and documents are available for anyone to read and understand how Safe Sanctuary is incorporated into church life at Highland UMC.
